The sub-tropical climate in Puerto Vallarta is hot all through the year, experiencing average daytime temperatures of around 29°C / 84°F. With plenty of sunny weather offering superb conditions for sunbathing and an array of water sports, Puerto Vallarta is at its busiest between December and January, when the climate is at its most appealing and inviting.

However, don't let this weather put you off visiting Puerto Vallarta at this time of the year. The tropical showers and storms usually last only an hour or two, either falling in late afternoon or generally towards the end of the day. On some days, when the rainy weather is at its heaviest, the ocean waters can turn brown, with runoff from the surrounding hills and cliffs. The climate in Puerto Vallarta often feels especially fresh after a shower and many of the evenings stay fine and dry. In is unusual for showers to last an entire day during the rainy season.
